PROS

* Friends describe me as one of the most genuine, considerate people they know.

* Graduate degree, professionally employed, own house.

* “I don’t understand why you’re still single!” Hey, a smart, cool, attractive woman who knows me said it. I’ll take her as an expert witness.

* In shape. Body type: tall and lanky. Love to challenge myself physically and enjoy the outdoors. Although hardly the Old Spice Guy (or black, for that matter), I have been described as handsome. I also have the self-esteem to insist on mutual physical attraction before we move on from email. We will need to swap photos.

* Well-traveled. Backpacked parts of Europe and Asia. Dove into all manner of weird culinary concoctions. There’s not a place in the world I would not want to go (ideally with a travel partner) for adventure, culture, and warmer weather than drizzly summers like this one.

Alright, where to start. I've been up here a few weeks, and it's starting to get a little chilly. I'm looking for someone to spend time with and perhaps more as time goes on. In case you couldn't guess I'm not an Alaskan, and honestly, I don't fit the mold of most up here from what I gather. Never been hunting, been fishing maybe a half dozen times in my life, and while I enjoy hiking and camping, I don't normally do more than an overnight somewhere. I don't drive an off road vehicle, never been 4 wheeling, don't drink a lot, don't smoke (cigs or 420). I'm not a thug or a redneck, don't like rap and only rarely country music and don't really sit down and watch a lot of tv. (This isn't meaning to be demeaning to any that do all these things, just letting you know that I don't.)

Wow, that's a lot of don't, that kind of sucks. But, sometimes it's better to get those things out of the way first. I'm supposing you'd like to know a bit about what I do like then? I like day hikes, and lots of photography. I like wandering aimlessly both city streets, between trees on a trail and down a beach. I enjoy sitting down at home enjoying a nicely cooked meal, a glass of wine and relaxing to a movie after. I like going on long drives and staying at whatever hotel we see at the end of the day. In warmer climates I live in the water, I love swimming, boating, staring at the stars. I enjoy going out to a variety of restaurants, dressed up or dressed down. I'll do bars and clubs, but generally not for too long (unless there is a great band or for NFL Sunday Ticket). I'll goof off dancing at clubs (I know I can't), or go home and gently spin the girl I'm with around my living room as we laugh and smile. I love music, listening to live bands or on the radio, primarily rock and alt rock, but a little bit of most things.

In the next few months, I'm looking forward to attempting to learn how to snowboard, to start learning how to play the guitar (always been a dream,finally buying one) and exploring more of Alaska, perferably with someone at my side. I keep hearing one should never give up the hope of finding the right person to share my life with. Having lived in the valley most of my life I must say its been fun and I have met a few nice ones on craigslist in the past. Still I just went on a short trip to Texas alone to find some sun and heat and found both, it would have been better to share those times. I am tall and still work full time, I am a non smoker and now have a roommate to talk to. Still what is missing is that one to share my personal thoughts with, one to travel with and see more of the world we live in, someone to grow old with. I read a short note from Kipling, its better to remain alone and suffer only the misery of being alone, so long as it is possible to find distraction in daily work. I think these few words have hit me pretty straight on as I tend to work too much to hide the fact of living alone.
